Snake

The Snake is the zodiac's symbol of wisdom and intuition. Tradition associates it with depth, discretion and a calm, deliberate approach to life.

Personality

The Snake is described as thoughtful, elegant and perceptive. It observes before it acts and often understands more than it says. Its shadow side is secrecy: reserve can turn into mistrust, and patience into reluctance to let go.

Love and relationships

In love the Snake is pictured as devoted and private, choosing partners carefully. Tradition pairs it well with the Monkey, and with the Ox and Rooster.

Work and everyday life

Symbolically the Snake fits work that rewards analysis and strategy: research, advising, planning, anything that needs a long view. Its reflection is sharing its insight before the moment has passed.

Symbolism

The Snake belongs to the branch 巳 and the hours 09:00–11:00. In the Great Race it hid coiled around the Horse's hoof and slipped ahead of it at the finish, taking sixth place.
