The Goat, also called the Sheep or Ram in English, is the zodiac's gentle artist. Tradition associates it with kindness, imagination and a love of beauty and harmony.
Personality
The Goat is described as creative, compassionate and calm. It is sensitive to the moods of others and finds meaning in art, nature and quiet moments. Its shadow side is indecision and worry, especially when it feels unsupported.
Love and relationships
In love the Goat is pictured as tender and loyal, valuing security and closeness. Tradition pairs it well with the Horse, and with the Rabbit and Pig.
Work and everyday life
Symbolically the Goat thrives in creative and caring work: design, crafts, music, care. Its reflection is trusting its own taste and voicing what it needs.
About the name
The Chinese 羊 covers goats and sheep alike, so English sources use Goat, Sheep or Ram for the same sign. Zodiazi uses Goat.
Symbolism
The Goat belongs to the branch 未 and the hours 13:00–15:00. In the Great Race it crossed the river on a raft together with the Monkey and the Rooster and came eighth.
Five variants
Over the 60-year cycle each animal meets each element once. The stem of the year decides which variant it is.

Exact dates from Chinese New Year. Anyone born in January or early February may belong to the previous animal.
