害 Harm
A Harm (害, hài) is a subtler tension than a clash. Tradition reads it as small misunderstandings rather than open conflict.
What the tradition says
Harm pairs are Rat–Goat, Ox–Horse, Tiger–Snake, Rabbit–Dragon, Monkey–Pig and Rooster–Dog. The relation is described as sensitivity to unspoken expectations: things left unsaid matter more here than in other pairs.
Questions for reflection
- Which expectations do you assume rather than say aloud?
- How quickly do you clear up a small misunderstanding?
- What helps you both feel heard?
Elements of the branches
Fire of the Horse feeds Earth of the Ox in the generating cycle.
These traditional associations offer a starting point for reflection, not a definitive measure of how a relationship will go. Communication, trust and shared values matter far more than any pair of animals.
No percentage, no score: tradition describes harmony and tension, it does not measure them.
